Rumor: One of the Biggest Xbox Franchises Reportedly Coming to Switch 2, PS5

Rumor: Halo: MCC and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 Headed to PS5 and Switch 2 in 2025

A recent report from industry insider NateTheHate suggests that Halo: The Master Chief Collection could be making its way to the PlayStation 5 and the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. The same source claims a 2025 release window for these potential ports. This isn't an isolated claim; another reputable leaker, Jez Corden, has tweeted that significantly more Xbox first-party titles will be released on multi-platform consoles in 2025, suggesting an end to the era of Xbox console exclusivity.

Microsoft's shift towards multi-platform releases began in February 2024, with titles like Pentiment, Hi-Fi Rush, Grounded, and Sea of Thieves leading the charge. As Dusk Falls, while not developed in-house, also transitioned from Xbox exclusivity. Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 arrived on other platforms in October 2024, and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is slated for a PS5 release in Spring 2025.

NateTheHate's report also includes Microsoft Flight Simulator, though the specific title wasn't mentioned. It's highly likely he's referring to Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, released November 19th, and predicts a PS5 and Switch 2 release sometime in 2025.

The prospect of Call of Duty on Nintendo platforms remains strong, though the lack of Switch releases to date may be due to Microsoft awaiting the more powerful Switch 2. Their ten-year agreement with Nintendo to bring Call of Duty to Nintendo consoles, announced in late 2022, strongly supports this expectation.

In short, the gaming landscape is shifting, with major Xbox franchises potentially breaking free from Xbox exclusivity in the near future. The 2025 release window for these rumored ports remains unconfirmed, but the industry whispers are certainly intriguing.
