Star Wars Celebration 2025 is set to light up Tokyo from April 18 to 20, and fans are buzzing with excitement over the official announcement of Sequel Trilogy star Oscar Isaac's appearance. Known for his role as the charismatic pilot Poe Dameron, Isaac's presence at the event has sparked widespread speculation about his potential return to the Star Wars universe.

The announcement was made via the official Star Wars Celebration Instagram, fueling rumors akin to those that followed Daisy Ridley's appearance at Star Wars Celebration 2023, where she revealed her involvement in a new film centered around her character, Rey. Fans are now eagerly anticipating whether Isaac might drop similar news about Poe Dameron's future in the galaxy far, far away.

The Sequel Trilogy concluded with "Star Wars: Episode 9 - The Rise of Skywalker" in 2019, leaving a mixed legacy among fans and cast alike. Isaac has been vocal about his fluctuating feelings towards the franchise. Initially expressing reluctance in 2020—jokingly stating he'd only return if he needed "another house or something"—his stance softened by 2022. In an interview with Variety, he expressed a more open attitude, saying he had "no real feeling one way or another" and was "open to anything."

Isaac also voiced his disappointment with Disney for rejecting his idea of a romantic storyline between Poe and John Boyega's character, Finn, citing that the "overlords were not ready for that." Boyega, too, has had a tumultuous relationship with the franchise but has hinted at openness to returning to his role.

Amidst these developments, speculation is rife about a possible reunion of the Sequel Trilogy's main trio in the upcoming Rey film, set 15 years after "The Rise of Skywalker." This film, directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, will focus on Rey's efforts to rebuild the Jedi Order. Ridley has already expressed her desire for Boyega to return, and with Isaac's character completing the trio, fans are hopeful for a full reunion.

While definitive answers might emerge at Star Wars Celebration 2025, fans may need to wait longer to see what unfolds, given Disney's repeated delays of the announced Star Wars films. The Rey film, despite being highly anticipated, is currently slated for a potential release on December 17, 2027, keeping fans on the edge of their seats as they await further news on the future of their favorite characters.
