Shift Up, the developer behind the hit game Stellar Blade, has unveiled its roadmap for future updates, offering fans a glimpse into what's next. Stellar Blade's immense popularity has generated significant anticipation for future content, and Shift Up is responding with a focused plan.
While the developer has been working on various improvements, recent efforts have centered on performance optimization and overall quality-of-life enhancements. Progress is ongoing, but the company recently addressed fan desires for a clearer picture of its future plans.
In a presentation by Shift Up CFO Ahn Jae-woo, the following update schedule was revealed:
Stellar Blade Update Roadmap:
- Photo Mode: Expected around August.
- New Skins: Planned for release after October.
- Major Collaboration: Scheduled for the end of 2024. Speculation points towards a collaboration with the Nier series, given the positive relationship between the directors of both franchises and Stellar Blade's clear inspiration from Nier: Automata.
- Sequel Confirmed: A sequel is in development. Paid DLC is under consideration.
Preparations for the PC release of Stellar Blade are also underway. Ahn Jae-woo expressed confidence in the game's sales, noting the impressive milestone of over one million copies sold, and drawing comparisons to successful titles like Ghost of Tsushima and Detroit: Become Human, which achieved sales in the multi-million range. The achievement of one million sales for a new IP is considered a significant accomplishment.
The positive outlook surrounding Stellar Blade's continued success fuels expectations for a sequel. While a sequel is confirmed and paid DLC is being explored, further details remain scarce. Shift Up is currently prioritizing its immediate plans, suggesting that more substantial information on these future projects may take some time. However, the current roadmap provides plenty to anticipate for the near future.
