Arrowhead Studios, fresh off the phenomenal success of Helldivers 2 (released last year to rave reviews), is currently developing a new, "high-concept" game. Creative director Johan Pilestedt took to social media to announce the project and solicit fan feedback.
The response was enthusiastic, with suggestions ranging from a Smash TV remake to Star Fox-inspired titles. Pilestedt confirmed that a Smash TV remake has been internally discussed, and also hinted at a Star Fox-esque "rail game."
While details remain scarce, Arrowhead's community engagement is evident. Helldivers 2's success, a standout title of 2024, sets a high benchmark for their next endeavor.
A recent update for Helldivers 2, including the highly anticipated Omens of Tyranny expansion (shadow-dropped at the 2024 Game Awards), has significantly boosted player numbers on PS5. The update introduced the long-awaited Illuminate enemy faction, a 4x4 Fast Recon Vehicle, and new urban warfare maps – all very well-received by players. With a rumored Killzone crossover also on the horizon, Helldivers 2 is poised for continued success in 2025.
