Tiering the Marvel Cinematic Universe

Authore: MatthewUpdate:Feb 25,2025

Captain America: Brave New World has arrived, prompting another look at the Marvel Cinematic Universe's impressive 35-film collection. But which MCU film reigns supreme in your heart? Do you cherish the early origin stories like Iron Man, or prefer the thrilling team-ups that defined the Infinity Saga? Share your preferences using the tier list tool below.

With so many films to choose from, it's worth noting that this list only includes entries from Kevin Feige's MCU, excluding Sony's Marvel films (except Wolverine, of course). My personal tier list, reflecting my viewing enjoyment over the years, is presented here:

Simon Cardy's MCU Tier List

Sadly, Brave New World falls short of expectations for me, burdened by arguably the MCU's most cumbersome script to date, landing it firmly in the D tier. My placement of 2024's Deadpool & Wolverine in the lower tier might surprise some, but it simply didn't resonate with me. (You can find a detailed explanation of my reasoning elsewhere.) However, it's not the MCU's absolute worst; that dubious honor currently belongs to Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, an easy D-tier entry.

Conversely, my top tier features five exceptional films. Captain America: Civil War and Winter Soldier easily earn S-tier status, masterfully exploring the MCU's emotional core and paranoid espionage, respectively. Thor: Ragnarok stands out as one of the funniest comedies of the last decade, and Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame deliver a spectacular and phenomenal conclusion to the franchise's most pivotal chapter.

Disagree? Believe No Way Home is the best of the Tom Holland Spider-Man trilogy? Think Black Panther deserves an S-tier ranking? Create your own MCU movie tier list below, comparing your rankings (S, A, B, C, and D tiers) with the IGN community.
