Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana progressively introduces challenging bosses, enhancing player mastery of game mechanics. While not excessively long, the game features several demanding encounters. Gyalva, the Lord of the Blazing Prison, presents a significant hurdle, requiring a solid understanding of combat, abilities, and game mechanics.
Defeating Gyalva: A Strategic Approach
- Boss Location: Zone of Lava, the Escapeless Abyss
- Boss Health (Normal): 1200
Following Guilen's defeat, players navigate the Zone of Lava to face Gyalva. The key to victory lies in strategic positioning at either bridge end.
The limited movement options and the boss's bridge-disrupting attacks demand precise maneuvering. Players must repeatedly leap towards Gyalva, utilizing wind magic for maximum damage output within short bursts. This requires efficient damage dealing and quick retreats. Mastering this rhythm is crucial for success.
Understanding Gyalva's Attacks
While a remake of Ys 3, Gyalva is a new addition to the storyline. Although the fight's core mechanics are relatively straightforward, Gyalva's attacks can inflict substantial damage quickly. The boss's aerial maneuvers and fiery assaults constantly shift the battlefield. Adequate character preparation is strongly recommended. Aim for Adol reaching at least level 21 before engaging Gyalva.
Spinning Attacks (Two Variations)
Gyalva employs two spinning attacks:
- A localized spin across a bridge section, launching affected platforms into the air. Evade by moving to either side of the affected area.
- A full-bridge traversal, causing all platforms to flip. The only safe position is on either ledge at the bridge's ends.
Avoid the bridge's very edge to prevent being cornered. Instead, strategically attack Gyalva and retreat to the nearest ledge.
Fire Blast
Gyalva launches fireballs, sending platforms airborne. While damaging, this attack provides an opportunity to land several hits.
Bursting Torches
Torches along the bridge periodically erupt in flames, accompanied by fireball transfers between torches. The timing of these bursts is unpredictable, but the periods between bursts offer safe passage.
