Crafted from bamboo, it resembles a set of blades and is played by striking these blades with a paddle, also known as a tingklik pelvis. A tingklik gamelan ensemble typically features two instruments: the tingklik polos and the tingklik sangsih. A single tingklik instrument may contain eleven to twenty-five bamboo blades, the exact number depending on the musical scale employed. The tingklik is played using both hands; the right hand usually plays the melody (kotekan), while the left hand plays the rhythm (bun). Occasionally, the right hand might play the sangsih part and the left the polos.
