Seka: A Thrilling Card Game
Seka, also known by various names like Sikka, Sichka, Strizh, Trinka, Trynka, Drynka, Tri Lista, and Dva Lista, is a captivating card game for 2 to 10 players. The game utilizes a standard 52-card deck, with variations depending on the number of players: 20 cards (Tens to Aces) for 2-4 players, and 36 cards (Sixes to Aces) for 5-10 players. A Joker is included, its value agreed upon beforehand (typically a Six of any suit).
Card Values:
- Joker and Ace: 11 points
- King to Ten: 10 points
- Lower cards: face value
The player with the highest point total at the end wins the pot.
Gameplay:
A dealer is randomly selected. Players contribute an agreed-upon amount to the pot. Each player receives three cards. Players then decide whether to discard cards or continue playing.
Points are awarded for matching suits ("khlyust"). For example, a Seven and a Jack of Clubs would yield 17 points. If suits don't match, only the highest card's value counts. Three cards of the same rank ("tricon" or "trynka") always score higher than any "khlyust" (but not a higher tricon).
Betting commences. The player to the dealer's right makes the initial bet. Subsequent players can fold, call, or raise. After a round of betting, the first player decides to continue betting or reveal cards.
The player with the highest point total wins the pot. In case of a tie, players can split the pot or start a new round ("svara"). "Svara" involves the same initial pot plus an additional contribution (1/N, where N is the previous pot size). Other players can also contribute and rejoin.
Bluffing is allowed: raising the bet with fewer points. Successful bluffing wins the pot without revealing cards.
The player after the dealer can also place an additional blind bet ("zatemit"), without looking at their cards. Subsequent players must bet double the blind bet to continue.
