Osmos, the acclaimed cell-absorbing puzzle game, returns to Android! Previously removed due to playability issues stemming from outdated porting technology, developer Hemisphere Games has resurrected the title with a completely revamped port.
For those unfamiliar, Osmos is a unique, award-winning puzzle where players absorb smaller organisms while avoiding being absorbed themselves. Its simple yet engaging premise made it a hit, but Android users faced a long period without access.
Now, years after its initial 2010 release, Osmos is back on Google Play, optimized for modern Android operating systems. Hemisphere Games explains in a blog post that the original Android version, developed with Apportable, became difficult to update following Apportable's closure. The game's subsequent removal from the store due to incompatibility with current Android systems (32-bit only) paved the way for this much-needed rebuild.
