Skate Expands Playtesting to Include Console Players

Skate Playtest Now Available on Consoles!

Exciting news for console gamers! The highly anticipated skateboarding game, skate., is now available for playtesting on Xbox and PlayStation consoles. This marks a significant step forward for the game, previously only accessible to PC players through the skate. Insider program since mid-2022. After a 15-year wait since the last Skate game, console players can finally experience the next generation of skateboarding simulation.

skate. follows the long-awaited revival of the popular Skate franchise, which saw its last entry, Skate 3, released in 2010. Despite a dedicated fanbase, EA seemingly shelved the franchise for years, focusing on other genres. However, persistent fan support, fueled by the #Skate4 hashtag, eventually led to the creation of a dedicated development studio and the announcement of a new title. The early access release is planned for 2025, and this console playtest is a positive sign of progress.

The skate. Insider program offers access to the playtest for Xbox and PlayStation users. A recent video from the development team confirmed additional Black hairstyle options and playfully addressed the initial "Fall 2024" playtest announcement. While specific gameplay details, such as the improved replay editor, remain undisclosed, the team's engagement with fans is promising.

skate. is confirmed as a free-to-play, live-service game set in the fictional city of San Vansterdam. Inspired by San Vanelona, Port Carverton, and real-world locations, the city is still under development. While a map leaked in 2023, it's likely undergone significant changes. Fans can either join the playtest via registration or patiently await the wider release.

Other Skate Games to Enjoy in the Meantime

While the 2025 early access release is anticipated, delays are always a possibility. Fortunately, several other skateboarding games are available to keep fans entertained until skate.'s official launch.
