Star Wars: Hunter shutting down in late 2025, final content update next month

Star Wars: Hunters, Zynga's foray into the Star Wars mobile gaming universe, is closing its doors after less than a year. Launched in June 2024 for iOS and Android, the game, with its unique blend of game show aesthetics and fresh Star Wars character interpretations, will officially shut down on October 1st, 2025. A final content update, including the release of the new hunter Tuya (free for all players), is planned for April 15th. In-game currency refunds are available, and select seasonal events will be re-run as Season 3 is extended.

The announcement came as a surprise, given the lack of prior indications of underperformance. While Zynga's strength as a company suggests deeper reasons for the game's closure, the saturated pseudo-hero shooter genre and a potentially mismatched target audience (considering the aging Star Wars fanbase) might have played a significant role. The game may not have resonated with the mobile gaming demographic expected to engage with this type of fast-paced multiplayer experience.

For those who haven't experienced Star Wars: Hunters, there's still time to jump in before the October shutdown. Check out our tier list ranking SW: Hunters characters by class before it's too late!
