The Last Knight side quest adds depth to the Rinascita region, providing a glimpse into life beyond Ragunna City. It's significantly shorter than quests like "Where Wind Returns to Celestial Realms," making it a quicker, less demanding experience.
Starting the Quest
This quest unlocks after completing Chapter 2 of the main storyline ("What Yesterday Wept, Today Doth Sing"). It's recommended to finish Chapter 2, Act 3 before exploring Rinascita, as many side quests are locked until then. Locate Cosimo in Egla Town, Whisperwind Haven; he's near the first house by the main road and marked with a blue quest marker.
The Night Reveries
This involves a performance honoring a legendary knight. You must defeat the Mad Knight, who appears only at night (18:00 to 06:00). Find him at the town's central pool. The Mad Knight isn't particularly difficult; use your strongest attacks.
Mimic Chest Challenge
After defeating the Mad Knight, fly to Carlow's location (marked on your map) near a large purple flower in the tallest tower. Interacting with the flower transports you to an area with chests. The first three are genuine; in the next set, only the second chest (middle-left) is real. Opening it yields Astrites and other rewards, but be prepared to fight the mimic chests that attack afterward.
Following the Knight's Trail
Next, visit two locations associated with the legendary knight, following quest markers and interacting with NPCs.
After speaking with Mr. Millkeeper, a strange scent leads you to a unique Chop Chop battle. A Questless Knight Echo is recommended to parry and stun its attacks. Mr. Millkeeper reveals the "legendary knight" was a fabrication, prompting Carlow to flee.
Confrontation in Egla Town
Find Carlow in Egla Town during the day. He's confronted by knights, but instead of backing down, he challenges one to a duel, rejecting the fantasy and embracing the true meaning of protection. The quest concludes after Carlow issues the challenge, awarding Union XP, Astrites, and resources.
