Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Farewell: Nintendo Announces Closure

Nintendo's popular mobile game, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, is officially shutting down. The news has surprised many players, but the end-of-service (EOS) date has been set for November 28th, 2024. This marks the end of online features, including Leaf Ticket purchases and Pocket Camp Club memberships. Auto-renewals for the Pocket Camp Club will cease on October 28th, with no refunds for existing memberships after that date (though a commemorative badge will be awarded). The final day to acquire Leaf Tickets is November 26th. Online services will conclude on November 28th at 7:00 AM PST.

However, there's a silver lining! Nintendo plans to release a paid offline version of the game. While features like the Market Box, gifting, and visiting friends' campsites will be absent, the core gameplay will remain. Players will retain their saved data and enjoy the game without an internet connection. More details on this offline version are expected around October 2024.

This closure follows a trend of Nintendo phasing out mobile titles, including Dr. Mario World and Dragalia Lost, with Mario Kart Tour also showing signs of reduced support. Therefore, while unexpected for some, the shutdown of Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp isn't entirely surprising.

For those wishing to enjoy the game's final days, it's available on the Google Play Store. Stay tuned for our upcoming coverage of Netflix's Monument Valley 3.
