Concerns about weapon design similarity in Monster Hunter: World prompted questions regarding Monster Hunter Wilds. While initial glimpses of Wilds' weapons offered limited insight, Director Yuya Tokuda has clarified the design philosophy.
Tokuda stated regarding the Hope series armor and weapons: "Incidentally, weapon designs in Monster Hunter: World generally retained a certain form, but they featured a customized appearance based on which monster materials were used. However, in Wilds, each weapon has its own unique design."
This directly addresses prior concerns. Unlike Monster Hunter: World, where some weapon lines retained similar appearances even at higher upgrade levels, Wilds boasts distinctly unique weapon designs. The image below illustrates the similarity of certain upgraded weapons in Monster Hunter: World, such as the Aqua and Pukei-Pukei Sword and Shield, and the Bone and Jyuratodus Long Swords.
In contrast, the slideshow below showcases the diverse and unique weapon designs present in Monster Hunter Wilds.
