In Hyper Light Breaker, players encounter a variety of resources, with Golden Rations standing out as the rarest and most crucial for significant upgrades. The game, like many roguelikes, leaves players to discover these elements on their own, but we're here to cut through the mystery and guide you directly to securing these valuable assets.

Where to Get Golden Rations

As of the early access release of Hyper Light Breaker, there are two primary methods to obtain Golden Rations: through exploration and cycle resets. During your runs, keep an eye out for chest icons on the map; these are your key to resources, including the elusive Golden Rations. You'll spot a chest containing a ration if it's marked with the Golden Ration icon.

Particularly, areas marked with Prisms (denoted by a golden diamond icon on the map) often have chests nearby that might contain Golden Rations.

The other way to acquire Golden Rations is by leveraging cycle resets. A cycle in Hyper Light Breaker corresponds to each instance of the Overgrowth, resetting when your Rez count hits zero. Upon exhausting your revives, you can choose to either retry the map, which costs resources, or initiate a full cycle reset at the Cursed Outpost. After a reset, your performance is scored, and achieving a high enough rank can earn you Golden Rations.

What are Golden Rations For?

Golden Rations are pivotal for progression in Hyper Light Breaker. They're primarily used at your home base to unlock permanent upgrades for your characters or to access new services from vendors.

Moreover, Golden Rations are essential for unlocking Sycoms, which are crucial items that define your Breaker's stats and core passive ability, effectively shaping your playstyle.

When you secure your first Golden Ration, we highly recommend investing in the extra medkit upgrade from Pherus Bit. This upgrade can significantly ease future runs, particularly in a game where combat mistakes are heavily penalized.

Should you die during a run, rest assured that any collected resources, including Golden Rations, remain in your inventory. However, the weapons, amps, and perks you carry will suffer one pip's worth of damage, which could lead to their permanent destruction.
