Microsoft recently unveiled a glimpse of a potential Xbox UI update that could revolutionize how gamers interact with their PC game libraries. In a now-removed image from a blog post titled "Opening a Billion Doors with Xbox," eagle-eyed readers spotted a "Steam" tab on various device screens, suggesting a new feature that would integrate PC game libraries from Steam, the Epic Games Store, and other platforms directly into the Xbox interface.

The inclusion of Steam in an Xbox UI update mockup is intriguing, especially since Valve's platform traditionally operates independently of Microsoft's gaming ecosystem. This accidental reveal was quickly pulled from the blog post, indicating that it might have been a premature disclosure. According to sources cited by The Verge, Microsoft is indeed exploring a feature that would allow Xbox users to view all their PC games across multiple storefronts, though the project is still in its early stages.

This potential update aligns with Microsoft's broader strategy of integrating Xbox and PC gaming ecosystems. Over the past decade, Microsoft has increasingly brought its titles to PC and other platforms, including Pentiment and Grounded on PS4, PS5, and Nintendo Switch, with rumors suggesting that the Master Chief Collection might also make its way to PlayStation.

Microsoft's efforts to blur the lines between Xbox and PC gaming were further highlighted by the "This is an Xbox" campaign, which emphasizes the versatility of Xbox gaming across various devices. In an interview with Polygon, Xbox head Phil Spencer hinted at a future where PC stores like Itch.io and the Epic Games Store could be accessible directly on Xbox hardware.

Looking ahead, Microsoft's next-generation Xbox, expected in 2027, is rumored to be more akin to a PC than any previous Xbox console. This development suggests a continued push towards a more unified gaming experience across different platforms and devices.
