Conquering the Lifer in Wuthering Waves 2.0: A Comprehensive Guide

Wuthering Waves version 2.0 introduces the challenging Lifer, a unique Tacet Discord residing in the Rinascita region's Oakheart Highcourt maze. This guide details how to defeat this formidable foe.

Locating the Lifer

The Lifer is situated at the maze's center, beneath a giant tree. An accessible entrance lies southwest, near the Oakheart Highcourt Resonance Beacon. Players can climb or use the Flight function to reach it.

The Lifer Board Game

Inside, players encounter a six-piece board game. Controlling black pieces, players aim to create three-in-a-row before the Lifer (white pieces). Placing a black piece on the outer circle opens corresponding maze walls and gates. The game can be exited and resumed, preserving piece positions. While not mandatory for combat, the board game is crucial for buff removal. Engaging the Lifer directly before buff removal is strongly discouraged.

Removing the Lifer's Buffs

The Lifer possesses seven buffs; four removable (Fragility), and three permanent (Stability). These buffs are visible on a yellow module behind the Lifer.

Removable Buffs (using the Stake of Imbalance):

  • Growing Loneliness: 10% Max HP recovery per second after 2s of inactivity.
  • Desire for Escape: 25% ATK increase, plus an additional 25% every 20s.
  • Impending Stalemate: 20% ATK increase per hit (stacks up to 4 times, resets after 6s without dealing damage).
  • Decay of Time: 200% resistance to all element types (Glacio, Fusion, Electro, Aero, Spectro, Havoc) and 25% Max HP increase.

Permanent Buffs (cannot be removed):

  • Chains of Confinement: Interruption immunity above 50% HP.
  • Endless Game: 50% reduced Immobilization duration.
  • Divine Garden: Repels and damages nearby enemies after taking >25% Max HP damage in a single hit.

Four Stakes of Imbalance are needed to remove the removable buffs. Use the Sensor near the Lifer to locate four purple lines leading to outer maze rooms. Manipulate the board game to open the gates to these rooms. Each room contains a winged statue and a Stake of Imbalance (glowing white). Some rooms require defeating Tacet Discords or breaking Friable Rocks. Place each Stake in the corresponding module to remove a buff (purple lines turn yellow).

Defeating the Lifer

After removing all four removable buffs, engage the Lifer (either win the board game or choose "Fight it out!"). The significantly weakened Lifer poses minimal threat.

Rewards for defeating the Lifer:

  • First Victory: Premium Supply Chest
  • Second Victory: Premium Supply Chest + 3 Basic Supply Chests
  • Third Victory: Advanced Supply Chest + 3 Standard Supply Chests

Buffs can be re-enabled for a more challenging fight, though no achievements are tied to this.

Lifer Achievements

  • The Lifer's Salvation: Defeat the Lifer.
  • The Ring of The Lifer: Defeat the Lifer three times (all nine chests).
  • Limit of Intelligence: Win the board game against the Lifer.
  • Alpha Go: Lose the board game against the Lifer 10 times.

For the board game, focus on preventing the Lifer from creating lines. The Lifer will eventually make mistakes.
