Palworld developer Pocketpair is finalizing its highly anticipated cross-play update, slated for release in late March 2025. A recent X/Twitter post confirmed this update will enable multiplayer across all platforms and introduce world transfer for Pals. Pocketpair's Communications Director and Publishing Manager, John 'Bucky' Buckley, hinted at "a few little surprises" included in the March update.

This news is a welcome boost for the 32 million players who've joined Palworld since its January 2024 early access launch. Pocketpair has unveiled an extensive 2025 content roadmap, encompassing cross-play, a concluding scenario, and additional content for this popular creature-catching survival game.

Palworld's initial launch on Steam ($30) and simultaneous arrival on Xbox and PC Game Pass proved remarkably successful, shattering sales and concurrent player records. Pocketpair CEO Takuro Mizobe revealed that the game's initial success was so overwhelming that the developer struggled to manage the resulting revenue. Despite this, Pocketpair capitalized on Palworld's explosive popularity by partnering with Sony to establish Palworld Entertainment, a new venture focused on expanding the IP and launching the game on PS5.

Currently looming is a lawsuit filed by Nintendo and The Pokémon Company, seeking an injunction and damages for alleged patent infringement. Pocketpair has responded by publicly identifying the patents in question and modifying the Pal summoning mechanic within Palworld. The developer remains resolute, stating: “We will continue to assert our position in this case through future legal proceedings.”
