CD Projekt Red recently shared exciting details about The Witcher 4, revealing new regions and monsters in an interview with Gamertag Radio.

Unveiling the Mystery Village and its Monstrous Deity
Following the Game Awards 2024, a conversation between Gamertag Radio co-host Parris, Witcher 4 director Sebastian Kalemba, and executive producer Gosia Mitręga (December 14, 2024) confirmed the introduction of fresh environments and terrifying creatures.
Ciri's journey will lead players to uncharted areas of the Continent. Kalemba identified the village in the trailer as "Stromford," a place where villagers practice unsettling rituals, sacrificing young girls to appease their "god."
This "god," revealed to be a monster named "Bauk," is inspired by Serbian mythology. Kalemba described Bauk as a "tricky bastard" that instills terror in its victims. Beyond Bauk, players can anticipate numerous other new monsters.
While enthusiastic about the new locations and monsters, Kalemba remained tight-lipped about specifics, promising a completely novel experience within the familiar world of the Continent.
A subsequent interview with Skill UP (December 15, 2024) confirmed that Witcher 4's map size will be comparable to Witcher 3. Given Stromford's location in the far north, Ciri's adventures will extend beyond Geralt's explored territories.
Enhanced NPC Interactions and Immersive Detail
The Gamertag Radio interview also highlighted advancements in NPC design. Parris noted the reused character models in Witcher 3, contrasting them with the diversity showcased in the Witcher 4 trailer. Kalemba responded that each NPC will have a unique life and story, influenced by their close-knit community in the isolated village.
CD Projekt Red is refining NPC models, improving their appearance, behavior, and facial expressions to create a more immersive experience. While details are scarce, expect significantly enhanced NPC interactions and a richer, more believable world.
