'Marvel Rivals' Exploit Penalizes Players with Sluggish Gameplay

Authore: ZoeyUpdate:Jan 24,2025

A Reddit user uncovered a game-breaking bug in Marvel Rivals that disproportionately affects players with less powerful PCs. Low FPS (frames per second) causes several heroes to move slower and inflict reduced damage. Given Marvel Rivals' demanding system requirements, this effectively transforms the game into a "pay-to-win" scenario, where victory hinges not on skill or in-game purchases, but on the quality of your PC hardware.

This is clearly a bug, not an intended game mechanic. However, a swift fix isn't likely. The underlying problem stems from the Delta Time parameter – a crucial element in game development ensuring consistent gameplay regardless of frame rate. Resolving this complex issue will require considerable time and effort.

The following heroes are currently known to be affected:

  • Doctor Strange
  • Wolverine
  • Venom
  • Magik
  • Star-Lord

These characters exhibit slower movement, reduced jump height, and weaker attacks. Other heroes might also be impacted. Until the bug is resolved, optimizing your FPS, even at the cost of visual fidelity, is the recommended workaround.
